Guess who’s back? Ed Reed’s back!

After the tragic end to the Baltimore Ravens 2011-2012 season, Ravens fans had to deal with even more pain by losing defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano to the Indianapolis Colts, and dealing with the uncertain future of Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed.

After the dreadful loss in Foxboro, Ray Lewis was not hesitant in informing the media of his plans to return next season, but Ed Reed wasn’t so quick to respond.

He chose not to speak with media after the loss to the New England Patriots and was mum about his return to Baltimore. Ed Reed has struggled with injuries throughout his career, so much so that many believe it has effected his play on the field.

Ed Reed did not have a great season this year when it comes down to tackling. He was seen to have missed several this season, perhaps the most infamous tackle was the one on week 16 in Cincinnati.

“He told John [Harbaugh] that he’s going to get himself prepared to come back and play in 2012,” Newsome said at the NFL combine in Indianapolis.

Music to Ravens fans ears. Although Ed has had his struggles, no one would argue that he is one of the greatest safeties to ever play the game. This upcoming season could very well be Ed’s last. He will become an UFA (Unrestricted Free Agent) in 2013.

  1. So you think he’ll retire at the age of 35 instead of either A) Trying to sign a new contract with the Ravens or B) Looking for a new team to play for?
